As part of the experiential learning approach followed at Jagan Institute of Management Studies, an industrial visit to the JM BAXI (Delhi International Cargo Terminal Private Limited) Warehouse was conducted for students of the Warehouse Management course on 19th Nov 2025. The visit aimed to enhance students’ understanding of logistics and warehouse operations by exposing them to real-time industry practices and modern supply chain systems.
During the visit, students observed key warehouse processes, including inbound operations, documentation checks, unloading using forklifts, and barcode scanning for tracking. They also witnessed different storage systems, including pallet racking, block stacking, and container yard management. The export workflow, covering segregation, packaging, labelling, customs documentation, container loading, and sealing, was demonstrated in detail. The team at JM BAXI highlighted the importance of technology in modern warehousing, introducing students to Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), GPS-enabled container tracking, and digital safety tools. Safety practices, including mandatory protective gear, emergency protocols, and hazard management, were also explained.
The interaction with warehouse supervisors and managers (Mr Praful and Mr Anand) helped students link theoretical learning with industry practices and understand career opportunities in logistics. Overall, the visit was highly enriching and significantly enhanced students’ practical knowledge of warehouse and supply chain operations.
