Jagan Institute of Management Studies (JIMS), Rohini, organized an engaging and insightful workshop on “Mastering the Basics of Excel for Business Excellence” on 1st November 2025 for the students of the PGDM program. The session aimed to equip students with essential Excel skills that form the foundation for effective data analysis, business reporting, and informed decision-making.
The workshop was conducted by Mr. Jatin Kalra who is currently working with KPMG as a Manager and is also an alumnus of JIMS from batch (2015-17). He took students through a step-by-step understanding of Excel’s core functions, including data entry, formatting, basic formulas, conditional formatting, charts, pivot tables, and the basics of data visualization techniques. The hands-on approach allowed students to practice in real-time, ensuring conceptual clarity and practical exposure. Students were encouraged to explore shortcuts, formulas, and tools that enhance efficiency and accuracy in business operations.
The workshop was highly interactive, with students actively participating in exercises and clarifying their doubts. It provided them with valuable insights into how Excel acts as a powerful tool for business excellence and managerial decision-making.
Overall, the session was well-received and helped students strengthen their analytical mindset, preparing them to handle data-driven roles more effectively in their future careers.
