Over two engaging sessions of 1.5 hours each, conducted at the JIMS, Sector 5, Rohini, on 12th November, 2025 by Prof. Ojha masterfully connected theory with decades of practical experience, transforming “Employee Relations” from a textbook concept into a living organizational reality.

He walked us through the core architecture of Employee & Industrial Relations, emphasizing how organizations thrive when employees, employers, and mediators work in sync. His explanation of the industrial relations ecosystem - shaped by ethics, communication, trust, and legal frameworks - was both enlightening and thought-provoking.

Key Takeaways That Inspired the JIMS Students:

  1. Proactive Conflict Resolution
Prof. Ojha highlighted how timely mediation, arbitration, and adjudication can help prevent disputes from escalating. His real-world examples from the industry that demonstrated the immense value of proactive engagement rather than reactive firefighting.
  2. Power of Collective Voice
His insights on trade unions, collective bargaining, and worker participation in management (WPM) showcased how dialogue-driven workplaces build stronger, more resilient teams. The emphasis on collective bargaining as a two-way communication process that leads to long-term, sustainable settlements was particularly impactful.
  3. Building Trust Through Fairness
Transparent disciplinary procedures, a strong grievance-handling mechanism, and continuous employee education emerged as pillars for minimizing industrial disputes. He beautifully explained how fairness in policy and consistency in implementation create a culture of trust.
  4. Employee Wellbeing Matters
The session also shed light on employee health, safety, and welfare as non-negotiable components of modern HR practice — reinforcing that people are not just resources, but the very foundation of organizational success.
