ThriveX 2025: Real-World Retail Consulting Experience

On December 10, the Jagan Institute of Management Studies (JIMS), Rohini, transformed into a live consulting hub as the Retail Club – Creador hosted “ThriveX: Consultancy Challenge 2025”. The event brought together 15 teams from PGDM, PGDM-IB, and PGDM-RM programmes, all working as “student consultants” for some of Rohini’s most visited malls.

The final round was judged by a jury comprising Ms. Ambika Bhatia and Dr. Bushra, both with rich academic experience, who evaluated the teams not just as students, but as young professionals pitching to real clients. The focus of the challenge was clear: no theory-only work, but real locations, real research, real gaps, and practical solutions. The discussions were detailed and enriching.

Each team selected one retail centre in Rohini and studied it on the ground. The malls covered included Unity One Mall, Metro Walk Mall, City Centre Mall, North Ex Mall, and D Mall.

Students visited these centres, observed footfall patterns, spoke to shoppers and store staff, and assessed tenant mix, signage, cleanliness, safety, parking, and the overall experience for families, youth, and children. They also conducted practical surveys and used digital analytics, including text analysis of Google Reviews and social media analysis.

In Round 1, teams submitted a proposal PPT and an A2 poster summarising their research, problems identified, and early revival or growth ideas. From the 15 teams in the first round, 10 were shortlisted for Round 2 based on their clarity of diagnosis, research rigour, and originality of ideas. These shortlisted teams then presented detailed revival and growth roadmaps, including 0–6 month, 6–18 month, and long-term strategies.

In the Grand Finale, the teams presented issues and solutions ranging from empty storefronts and weak branding to poor zoning, dull event calendars, and underused open spaces. Suggested strategies included sharper positioning, better tenant curation, stronger digital marketing, weekend events for families, local-brand pop-up corners, and improved wayfinding inside malls.

After careful deliberation, the jury declared the results.
