Jagan Institute of Management Studies (JIMS) has collaborated with OPPO India to launch the OPPO Campus Advocate Program—an interactive engagement initiative aimed at providing students with real-world exposure to marketing and brand-building practices. Under this program, first-year students with a keen interest in marketing, sales, digital campaigns, and brand communication were invited to apply. The selected students will have the opportunity to work closely with the OPPO India team and will be evaluated by industry mentors on the basis of their performance, creativity, and practical understanding.
As part of this initiative, JIMS organized an industrial visit to the OPPO India Manufacturing Facility in Kasna, Greater Noida. This visit constituted a crucial component of the Round 2 assessment process for students who had successfully cleared Round 1. A total of 29 students from PGDM, PGDM–IB, and PGDM–Retail Management, accompanied by Ms. Ambika Bhatia and Ms. Tamanna Goel, participated in the visit to gain first-hand exposure to smart manufacturing systems and operational excellence.
The students were guided by Mr. Shresheth Chhabra (Senior Specialist – Retail) and Mr. Nongthangba Thangjam (Trainee Specialist, Public Affairs, OPPO India), who provided a detailed overview of OPPO’s large-scale smartphone manufacturing ecosystem. An orientation session offered valuable insights into production planning, assembly operations, material handling procedures, packaging standards, and OPPO’s adherence to global quality benchmarks.
An HR induction session was conducted by Mr. Lalit Chaudhary (Plant HR/IR Head), who shared in-depth insights into workforce management, industrial relations, organizational culture, and employee engagement practices followed at the manufacturing facility.
The guided plant tour familiarized students with the Surface Mount Technology (SMT) process, highlighting the role of automation, precision engineering, and stringent quality control mechanisms, along with the software information. Students also observed the assembly lines, gaining an understanding of workforce coordination, workflow efficiency, and waste minimization practices. Interactions with testing laboratories further showcased OPPO’s rigorous quality assurance processes and fault-detection systems.
The visit concluded with an interactive discussion session, reinforcing the importance of experiential learning within the Campus Advocate Program’s evaluation framework. Overall, the industrial visit successfully bridged academic concepts with real-world manufacturing practices and served as a significant assessment milestone in OPPO India’s campus engagement initiative.
