The PGDM Retail Management Department at Jagan Institute of Management Studies (JIMS), Rohini organized an academic session on “Mutual Funds in Practice: Investment Strategies and Market Insights” and “Marketing of Mutual Funds” on 27 January 2026, under the subject Financial Institutions & Markets. The session aimed to enhance students’ practical understanding of mutual funds and their role in today’s investment and marketing environment.
The session was conducted by Mr. Puneet Oberoi, Director – FinWise Services Pvt. Ltd., who shared valuable industry insights into the mutual fund ecosystem. He discussed the evolution of mutual funds in India, their structure, and their significance as a preferred investment avenue for investors.
Key areas covered included the role of SEBI in regulating the mutual fund industry, the operational framework involving AMCs, fund managers, trustees, and custodians, and the benefits of mutual funds such as diversification, professional management, liquidity, and transparency. Important concepts such as NAV, fund classification, and the difference between NFOs and existing funds were also explained.
The session further highlighted various modes of investment including lump sum, SIP, STP, and SWP, emphasizing their relevance in goal-based financial planning and long-term wealth creation. The interactive nature of the session encouraged active student participation and practical learning.
