The two-day intensive workshop on “Data Analysis using R” was successfully organized by JIMS Rohini on 7th and 8th February 2026 for PGDM students. The session was conducted by Mr. Pranjal Gupta, Senior Associate at PWC US Advisory, who brought with him extensive industry experience and practical exposure to real-world data analytics applications. The workshop aimed to equip students with practical skills in data handling, statistical analysis, and visualization using R programming. Mr. Gupta began the sessions with an overview of the importance of data analytics in modern business decision-making, emphasizing how organizations increasingly rely on data-driven insights for strategic planning.
He introduced participants to the R environment, RStudio interface, and fundamental programming concepts, ensuring that even beginners could comfortably follow along. On the first day, the focus was on data preprocessing, data cleaning techniques, handling missing values, data transformation, and exploratory data analysis (EDA). Participants gained hands-on experience working with datasets, learning to import data from various sources, manipulate data using packages like dplyr, and generate summary statistics. The interactive approach allowed students to practice coding in real time and clarify doubts instantly. The second day concentrated on advanced analytical techniques and data visualization. Mr. Gupta demonstrated how to create insightful visualizations using ggplot2 and explained the interpretation of graphs for managerial decision-making.
He also covered regression analysis and basic predictive modeling, linking statistical output to business implications. Real-life industry examples were shared to bridge the gap between academic concepts and corporate applications. The workshop was highly engaging and practice-oriented, encouraging active participation and collaborative learning. Students appreciated the clarity of explanations, industry insights, and structured approach adopted by the resource person. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A round where Mr. Gupta guided students on career pathways in analytics, certifications, and skill development strategies.
