On 7th July 2026, Jagan Institute of Management Studies (JIMS), Rohini organized an industrial visit for the students of PGDM – Retail Management (Batch 2026–2028) to Yakult Danone India Pvt. Ltd. The visit was designed to bridge classroom learning with practical exposure to the operations of one of the world's leading probiotic beverage manufacturers and to provide students with insights into FMCG manufacturing, quality management, and supply chain operations.

Yakult Danone India Pvt. Ltd. is a joint venture between Yakult Honsha (Japan), Danone (France), and Yakult Danone India, dedicated to promoting preventive healthcare through probiotic beverages. The company manufactures Yakult, a scientifically developed probiotic drink containing the Lactobacillus casei Shirota strain, discovered by Dr. Minoru Shirota, which helps maintain a healthy digestive system.
Key Highlights of the Visit
The visit commenced with an informative presentation introducing students to Yakult's global journey, the science behind probiotics, and the importance of gut health. Students also learned about the distinction between Yakult and curd, along with the health benefits of ingredients such as Stevia, Tulsi, Vitamin D, and Vitamin E.
During the factory tour, students observed the complete production process and gained first-hand exposure to advanced manufacturing technologies, including:
- Automated Manufacturing Process: Understanding the functioning of the Unscramble Machine, Ink Jet Printing Machine, Filling Machine, and Capping & Sealing Machine.
- Production Efficiency: Learning that the facility manufactures approximately 11,000 bottles per hour, with 18 bottles produced in each production cycle.
- Quality Assurance: Observing stringent quality control measures implemented at every stage of production.
- Cold Chain Management: Understanding the importance of maintaining storage temperatures below 10°C to preserve product quality and effectiveness.
- Packaging and Distribution: Gaining insights into the packaging process, with products packed in trays of 50 bottles for efficient distribution.
