Jagan Institute of Management Studies (JIMS), Rohini, organised an industrial visit to Delhi International Cargo Terminal Pvt. Ltd., Sonipat, Haryana, on 12th Aug 2026 for the students of PGDM-International Business.
The visit was organised with the objective of providing students with practical exposure to the functioning of a dry port and its role in facilitating efficient logistics and supply chain operations. Students gained firsthand insights into various processes involved in cargo handling, transportation, warehousing, documentation and the movement of goods through an integrated logistics network.
The visit enabled students to understand how theoretical concepts related to operations management, logistics, inventory management and supply chain coordination are implemented in a real-world industrial environment. The interaction and on-site exposure helped students appreciate the importance of operational efficiency, coordination and technology in ensuring the smooth movement of cargo.
The Dry Port Visit served as a valuable experiential learning opportunity, bridging the gap between classroom learning and industry practices. It enhanced students’ understanding of modern logistics infrastructure and provided them with a broader perspective on the strategic role of dry ports in domestic and international trade.
