JIMS organised an alumni interaction session for PGDM (International Business) students on 17th October 2026. The session, titled “Profit Today or Value Tomorrow? The Financial Management Perspective,” was led by Mr. Vansh Jindal, Tax Consultant at Deloitte and an alumnus of the PGDM-IB Batch (2022-24).
Mr. Jindal began by sharing his journey from the classroom to the corporate world before turning to the central question of the session: should a firm focus on short-term profit or on building lasting value? He explained that while profit is an important measure of performance, sustainable value creation requires managers to consider risk, the time value of money, stakeholder interests and the long-term health of the business. He showed how decisions on investment, financing, dividends and working capital can pull a firm in either direction, and why sound financial management lies in balancing the two.
The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer round, in which students sought guidance on careers in taxation and finance, the skills valued by consulting firms, and the transition from campus to corporate life.
The session gave students a practitioner’s view of how financial concepts translate into real business decisions and served as an inspiring example of alumni success.
