Jagan Institute of Management Studies (JIMS), Rohini, organised a three-day workshop on Data Visualisation using Advanced Excel and Power BI on 12th, 14th and 19th October 2026 for PGDM-International Business students . The session was led by Mr. Murshidul Anowar, Founder, Skills Binder.
The workshop aimed to equip participants with practical skills for converting raw data into clear, decision-ready insights, an essential competency in today’s data-driven business environment.
The first session focused on Advanced Excel, covering data cleaning, advanced formulas, lookup functions and PivotTables for analysis. The second session moved to visualisation, with charts and dashboards in Excel, followed by an introduction to Power BI, including data import and transformation using Power Query. The final session was devoted to building interactive Power BI dashboards, covering data modelling, calculated measures, slicers and filters, and effective data storytelling.
Mr. Anowar followed a hands-on, demonstration-led approach, and participants worked on sample datasets alongside him throughout. The workshop showed how Excel and Power BI complement each other: Excel for flexible preparation and analysis, and Power BI for scalable, interactive reporting.
Participants engaged actively through practice tasks and questions, and responded positively to the practical format. The skills gained are directly applicable to marketing analytics, finance, operations and academic research.
