The Jagan Institute of Management Studies (JIMS), Rohini, organised an insightful Investor Awareness Session titled “Empowering Youth through Financial Literacy” on 13th October 2026, in affiliation with PHDCCI – Voice of Industry and Trade. Students from the PGDM–Retail Management Department, Batches of 2025–2027 and 2026–2028 attended the session to gain practical insights into investment fundamentals, financial planning, and the dynamics of financial markets.
The session was graced by Mr. Sanjay Gakhar, Vice President (Business Management), MCX Ltd.; Mr. Harpreet Gujral, L&D Head, Globe Capital Market Limited; Ms. Veena Kumari, Assistant General Manager, SEBI; and Mr. Narinder Wadhwa, Co-Chair, Capital Market & Commodity Market Committee, PHDCCI.
The session highlighted the importance of developing sound financial habits at an early age and making informed investment decisions in an increasingly dynamic economic environment. It emphasised that financial literacy is an essential life skill, particularly for management students preparing to take on future financial responsibilities.
Students gained insights into the importance of starting investments early and understanding the power of compounding, through which reinvested returns can contribute to long-term wealth creation. The discussion also explored the relationship between the US dollar and gold prices, helping students understand how global economic indicators, interest rates, inflation expectations, and geopolitical uncertainty influence financial markets.
The session introduced students to the role of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) in regulating and developing India's securities market while safeguarding investors' interests. It reinforced the importance of market regulation, investor protection, and responsible participation in financial markets.
