How Many XLRI Programmes Can You Apply To — and What Does It Cost?

The registration fee will be ₹200 for each XLRI programme (BM,HRM,GM,IEV and LSCM) you choose.

Example: For 2 XLRI programmes selected: ₹2300 (base) + ₹200 × 2 = ₹2700 total

One does not have to apply separately for choosing more programmes either — the XAT registration form handles everything, and your performance on the test is used to evaluate you against whichever programmes you've chosen.

Accepted Payment Modes

  • Debit Cards (RuPay / Visa / MasterCard / Maestro)
  • Credit Cards
  • Net Banking
  • Unified Payments Interface (UPI including Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm etc)
  • IMPS
  • Mobile Wallets / Cash Cards

All payments are done via the integrated payment gateway on the registration portal – there is no cheques, demand draft or cash.

Refund Policy

The XAT application fee is non refundable under any circumstances — this includes:

  • Not taking the exam after registering
  • Entering incorrect details in the application
  • Applying to the wrong XLRI programme
  • Change of mind after the payment is done

This is reinforced by the fact there are no refunds under any circumstance, meaning you should double-check your programme choices and personal details before making payment as there's no fallback if you make a registration mistake.

What To Do If Your Payment Fails

  • Don't attempt payment again immediately. Sign in once again to your XAT account and check the application/payment status — money may already have been deducted with a backend processing of the transaction.
  • If money gets deducted but e-receipt is not generated, keep your transaction reference and screenshot, do not repeat the payment — contact XAT helpdesk directly.
  • Duplicate payments are occasionally refunded on a case-by-case basis, but this isn't guaranteed — avoiding the duplicate in the first place is the safer approach.
  • Typical payment failure scenarios include a bank server being down, an interruption in internet while the transaction is still ongoing, and a session timeout on the portal — all of which are likely repeated when traffic spikes around near-deadlines for registration.

Is the XAT Fee Different From the Programme Tuition Fee?

Yes — these are all distinctly different. You pay this ₹2,300 XAT fee only to register for the exam which is paid non-refundable i.e. So the programme fees (for instance, XLRI's PGDM BM /HRM for ₹30.6 lakh al in the first year — are settled only once you have successfully cleared XAT, GD/PI/WAT rounds and assured one admission offer - these two payments happen at entirely different stages of the admissions journey).

How XAT's Fee Compares to Other MBA Entrance Exams

Exam Approx. Application Fee
XAT ₹2,300
CAT ₹2,400 (general), ₹1,200 (reserved categories)
NMAT ₹2,800+ (varies with number of attempts)
SNAP ₹2,000 per test attempt

XAT fee is also in the same price range as the other entry level MBA entrance exams, but unlike most of them does not have a reduced rate for reserved categories.
